559 farmers and fisher folks in Northern Samar receive 3 million worth of livelihood assistance from

TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE--- The Department of Labor and Employment through its Northern Samar Field Office has recently awarded 3 million worth of livelihood assistance to 559 farmers and fisher folks of the municipalities of Bobon and San Isidro in Northern Samar.

400 farmers from Bobon each received one (1) unit of tractor while 159 fisher folks from San Isidro each received 1 unit of motorized fishing boat with fishing nets and paddle.

DOLE NSFO Head Patria A. Bigcas said that the said livelihood assistance is meant to augment the income and improve the quality of life of the beneficiaries.

During the awarding ceremony, Bobon Mayor Rene Celespara underscored the government’s mission in uplifting the condition of the general public, and in return the people’s responsibility in helping the local economy grow.

“In fulfilling this mission, we have the DOLE which fully supported us not only in the area of livelihood provision, but also in employment facilitation programs like the GIP and SPES”, Mayor Celespara said.

One beneficiary, Mr. Artemio Macho, Jr., a fisher folk from Brgy. Mabuhay in San Isidro expressed his gratitude to the DOLE for the livelihood intervention as it will greatly benefit his family and send his 2 children to school.
