TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment in Region 8 conducted a consultation with security agencies in Tacloban City on the newly-issued Department Order on contracting and subcontracting or D.O 174-16 on April 3, 2017 at the DOLE Training Center.
DOLE Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Roy Buenafe welcomed and thanked the owners and managers of twenty-four (24) security agencies for their presence and interest in knowing the features of D.O 174-17.
“We appeal to our security agencies in Tacloban to cooperate with us so we can meaningfully implement this new D.O in the region,” Buenafe said.
ARD Buenafe continued with the discussion of the provisions of D.O 174-17 or the rules implementing Articles 106 to 109 of the Labor Code of the Philippines.
“This D.O reaffirms the Constitutional and statutory right of workers to security of tenure and with this, we are very optimistic that we can curb illegitimate contractualization or “ENDO” not only in the region, but throughout the country,” Buenafe added.
Other topics shared during the consultation were Department Order No. 150-16 or the revised guidelines governing the employment and working conditions of security guards and other private security personnel in the private security industry, and Department Order No. 170-17 or the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Anti-Age Discrimination Laws.
