ew DOLE Regional Director Gonzales eyes stronger relationship with employees, stakeholders

TACLOBAN CITY The new regional director of the Department of Labor and Employment Joel M. Gonzales is eyeing for stronger working relationship with employees and stakeholders to be able to work out more development for Eastern Visayas region.

During a simple turn over ceremony held on May 2, 2017 at the DOLE regional office, Gonzales has lauded the efforts of his predecessors, Directors Elias Cayanong, and Exequiel Sarcauga in the implementation of various programs of the department and establishing partnership with the stakeholders.

“I need the same support that you gave to Directors Cayanong and Sarcauga for me to continue  what have  been  done  before  and with a healthy working relationships, and strong coordination among us no matter how small your position is, I have no doubt we will be able to accomplish so much for this region,”  Gonzales said.

Gonzales started his career in the Department of Labor and Employment as Labor Information Officer, until he became the Board Secretary of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, an attached agency of DOLE.  He then served as Assistant Regional Director and OIC-Regional Director of the CARAGA Region before he was transferred to DOLE Region 7 in Cebu City to serve as Assistant Regional Director. 

By virtue of Administrative Order No. 83 series of 2017 issued by DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III, Gonzales was tasked to head the DOLE Negros Island Region (NIR) as OIC-Regional Director, but a month later, a subsequent Administrative Order was issued directing Gonzales to take the helm of the DOLE regional leadership in Region 8.
