22 kids of DOLE RO8 employees complete summer workshop

TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE--- Twenty-two (22) grade school children of employees of the Department of Labor and Employment in Region 8 have completed the summer workshop organized by the Internal Management Services Division, and have received their certificates of completion during the culmination program on May 12, 2017 at the DOLE Training Center.

The summer workshop for kids was DOLE’s creative intervention to address parental role in the workplace.

DOLE-IMSD Chief Cristina T. Longjas explained that it has been an established norm that mothers are the ones who bring along with them their kids to the workplace during summer, hence the idea of having an activity that will preoccupy the kids while their working moms are busy with their work assignments came in.

“Indeed we have achieved our goal that this summer workshop would make our employees in the department still productive at work, while their kids are having fun in the all the activities they have done throughout the workshop,” Longjas said.

DOLE Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Roy Buenafe likewise commended the efforts of the IMSD for its efforts in coming up with a very unique activity for children of DOLE employees.

“By being here at the DOLE premises, we do not only make our children appreciate the value of work we are doing at the DOLE, but also we all feel at ease just by making sure that children are doing productive work this summer, and it is enough driving force for us to become more productive,” Buenafe said.

The culmination program was also an opportunity for the kids to showcase their talents and skills learned during the entire summer program.
