60 new employees, JO and GIP interns oriented on anti-sexual harassment in the workplace

TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE--- Sixty (60) participants who are new employees, job order employees and GIP interns of the Department of Labor and Employment attended the orientation on Anti-Sexual Harassment in the Workplace under Republic Act 7877 on July 27, 2017 at the DOLE Training Center organized by the Internal Management Services Division.

DOLE Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales commended the initiative of the IMSD for coming up with such activity because not only that the workers are oriented on the basic principles of anti-sexual harassment in the workplace, but also they are likely to be protected now that they know the acts that may constitute the sexual harassment.

“While we recognize the contribution made by our workers to the accomplishment of our goals in the department, we also have to protect them from any inappropriate act that may be committed by our colleagues,” Gonzales said.

Atty. Cecilio Baleña, Mediator-Arbiter served as the resource person on the topic.  The participants were also oriented on the concept of 5S which is a basic activity towards achieving and maintaining ISO Certification.
