DOLE to hold livelihood and employment summit


TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment in Region 8 will hold a regional and employment summit slated on March 7, 2018 at Patio Victoria Resort, San Jose, Tacloban City to achieve, strategically, a more productive employment and sustainable livelihood for the people in Eastern Visayas.


Over 300 participants are expected to attend the said one-day event who are local chief executives, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers, LGU livelihood focal persons, representatives of the Employers Confederation of the Philippines and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Heads of the DOLE Regional Coordinating Council, and partner agencies from the national government.


DOLE Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales said that the summit will serve as a venue for the DOLE to present strategies as well as to dialogue with the mayors and governors, PESO Manager, employers, workers, and other stakeholders on what and how the DOLE can strategically work with them to continually achieve the common goal for their constituents.


“With this summit, we hope to lay the ground in strengthening our employment services to gather sustainably interconnected-integrated livelihood projects for our people in the region”, Director Gonzales said.


By the end of the summit, two (2) guidelines of understanding are expected to be passed and forged between the DOLE and LGUs or partners that will manifest their commitment to the said strategic movement.
