Over 7k jobs up for grabs in Tacloban Mega Job Fair

Tacloban City – The local government unit of Tacloban City in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VIII will be holding a Mega Job Fair on March 15, 2019 at the Tacloban Convention Center, this city.

More than seven thousand (7,000) jobs being offered by thirty-nine (39) local employers and fifteen (15) overseas recruitment agencies.

Ms. Bernardita M. Navarra, Head of the North Leyte Field Office (NLFO) said that the Public Employment Service Office of LGU Tacloban City regularly conducts a mega job fair every year as its way of supporting the DOLE in implementing employment facilitation programs and to help address employment concerns in the region.

“I personally appreciate the LGU Tacloban headed by Mayor Cristina Romualdez and its active Public Employment Service Office (PESO) for initiating the conduct of this job fair. The activity is all set for our jobseekers and the employers are likewise cooperative”, said Ms. Navarra.

The one-day job fair will be graced by Mayor Cristina G. Romualdez, DOLE RO VIII Director Yahya A. Centi, POEA Regional Coordinator, Ms. Meriam R. Balmocena and Tacloban PESO Manager, Ms. Emilia A. Cruz. Partner non-government organizations (NGOs) such as Plan International, Save the Children and CECI-Concern Inc. will also take part in the program to be held prior to the job fair.

A pre-registration was held last March 11, 2019 at the City Engineer’s Office to facilitate smooth registration of applicants during the Job Fair proper.

Jobs Fair is DOLE’s employment facilitation strategy aimed to fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers/overseas recruitment agencies in one venue at a specific date to reduce cost, time and effort particularly on the part of the applicants. This is open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh college graduates, graduates of training institutions, displaced workers and employees seeking advancement.
