DOLE RO VIII to hold Jobs, Business Fair in Catbalogan City

Tacloban City – In line with the 121st Philippine Independence Day celebration last June 12 with the theme “Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamamayan”, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VIII, will be conducting a Jobs and Business Fair on June 18, 2019 at the Provincial Covered Court, Catbalogan City.

Director Yahya A. Centi gladly informed during the office’s regular Monday Program last June 10 that the Kalayaan Job and Business Fair will be held in Catbalogan to bring the jobs closer to the jobseekers particularly those from the Samar island.

“We hope to yield a favorable result as we bring again this year’s Kalayaan Jobs Fair in the city of Catbalogan, where jobseekers from Eastern Visayas especially those from the Samar area can have the opportunity to get a job”, said Director Centi.

As of June 13, nineteen (19) local and overseas employers have already confirmed to participate in the said jobs fair, bringing in more than three thousand job vacancies.

Among the local jobs which are up for grabs on June 18 are the following: nurses, sales representatives, branch managers, bookkeepers, bakers, electronics communications engineers, radio operators, researchers, microfinance officers and call center agents.

For those who would opt to work abroad, some of the overseas jobs available during the jobs fair are the following: massage therapists, beauticians, cooks, bakers, technicians, salesmen, nurses, drivers and fitness instructors.

Prior to the Jobs Fair, a brief program will take place wherein the awarding of more than P7 million livelihood grants to some municipalities in Samar and Eastern Samar will be highlighted.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Regional Office VIII, one of DOLE’s partner in the Trabaho Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) undertaking, will also be participating during the activity by setting up booth where jobseekers may avail  advise in case they want to pursue their entrepreneurial careers.
