DOLE RO-VIII calls for Jobstart applicants

Tacloban City – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VIII, in partnership with the local government unit of Tacloban City thru its Public Employment Service Office (PESO), is now calling for applicants for the Jobstart Philippines Program.

All interested youths residing in Tacloban City, with ages 18 to 24 years old, at least high school graduate and currently not enrolled nor employed are invited to join the registration scheduled on July 1-5, 2019 at Tacloban City PESO Office located near the City Hall of Tacloban.

After the registration process, screening of applicants will be conducted to determine who among the applicants are most qualified for the training. Just like last year, only one hundred (100) slots are allotted for this year’s batch of Jobstart trainees.

The JobStart trainees shall receive daily allowance of P200.00 for the duration of life skills training and technical skills training. After completing said trainings, they shall undertake internship with the partner establishments for a maximum of three (3) months with a stipend of not less than 75% of the prevailing minimum wage in the city.

Nine (9) employers have already signified to accept trainees during the Jobstart Employers Forum conducted last June 25, 2019 at the City Engineer’s Office Conference Room, Justice Romualdez Street, Tacloban City. Among these employers were McDonalds, Ocho Seafood & Grill Restaurant, Jollibee, Hotel Rodolfo, Hotel Alondra and Leyte Park Resort Hotel.

Jobstart Philippines Program, an employment facilitation program of DOLE, aims to enhance the employability of youth by reducing their job-search period and increasing their employability through training, paid internship and full-cycle employment facilitation services. The program is also designed to increase the capacity of Public Employment Service Office (PESOs) in providing full cycle employment facilitation services. End/Norma Rae S. Costimiano
