For stronger partnership, PESO Managers in EV capacitated

TACLOBAN CITY – A total of one hundred eighteen (118) Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers from different municipalities attended the Capacity Building Training for PESO Managers of Region VIII held by the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VIII last August 8-9, 2019 at Hotel Costa Brava, San Jose, this city.

With the theme “Capacity Building and PESO Managers Development”, DOLE RO VIII conducted the training in two batches: PESO Managers from the provinces of North Leyte, West Leyte, Southern Leyte and Biliran on the first day while those coming from Samar, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar were accommodated on the second day.

DOLE-Bureau of Local Employment Director Dominique Rubia-Tutay graced the event as the keynote speaker. She thanked all the PESO Managers for being a strong partner of the department in implementing DOLE programs particularly in the field of employment facilitation.

“You have been our strong and reliable partner in delivering different employment facilitation programs of DOLE, and for that we are so thankful. I hope that you will not get tired of helping us because at the end of the day we realize it’s for the benefit of the clients we serve”, said Director Tutay.

Director Tutay likewise discussed the salient features of the new Republic Act 11261 entitled “An Act Waiving Government Fees and Charges in the Issuance of Documents Required in the Application for Employment of First Time Jobseekers”. 

For the benefit of newly-designated PESO Managers, Ms. Cristina T. Longjas, Chief of Technical Support Services Division presented the topic “PESO and DOLE: A Strategic Partnership in Employment Services” while Mr. Norman Victor N. Ordiz, President of PESO Managers Association of the Philippines, tackled the PESO Institutionalization Program. 

As PESOMAP President, Mr. Ordiz likewise grabbed the opportunity to inform all the PESO Managers on latest updates from the PESOMAP. He even reminded them to facilitate their participation to the upcoming National PESO Congress in Bacolod.

With Labor Market Information as one of the core functions of PESO, basic orientation on Labor Statistics, Labor Supply & Demand, and LMI Analysis was given by Ms. Myka Rose E. Trono, Statistician of DOLE-BLE for their information and appreciation.

Recognizing the great role of PESO, Director Yahya A. Centi encouraged all PESO Managers to take pride in everything they do. He likewise shared insightful message on leadership to motivate and empower the PESO Managers whom he considered as extended workforce of DOLE in Eastern Visayas.

“In our pursuit to deliver our mandate, I must say you are an integral part of DOLE workforce here in Eastern Visayas. Let this training equip you for the successful implementation and delivery of our programs particularly on employment” said Director Centi. 

PESO is a non-fee charging multi-employment service facility or entity established or accredited by Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) pursuant to Republic Act No. 8759 otherwise known as the PESO Act of 1999.
