POEA RO8 moves to new, bigger office

TACLOBAN CITY – After years of occupying small office space, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration Regional Office 8, attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment, transfers to a new and bigger office located at 3rd floor, Uytingkoc Building, Senator Enage Street, this city.

With the initiative of DOLE Regional Office VIII Director Yahya A. Centi, Chairman of the DOLE-Regional Coordinating Council, inauguration and blessing of the new POEA office was held last September 3, 2019.

Present to grace the inauguration were POEA Officials in the persons of Mr. Rex O. Marcos, Chief of the POEA Regional Overseas Coordinating Office and Ms. Glenda M. Aliganza, OIC Chief of POEA RO7.

Sharing the same joy with POEA’s milestone are heads of DOLE-RCC namely Executive Director Joel B. Maglunsod of NMP, Board Secretary Reynaldo Soliveres of RTWPB, Director Gemma R. Poloyapoy of NCMB, Director Narcival Randie Z. Taquiqui, Ms. Juliet Z. Tan of OWWA, Ms. Catherine D. Dasigan of NRCO, Engr. Maria Elena L. Diez of OSHC and Ms. Michelle C. Basal of ECC.

Occupying the entire 3rd floor of the building, measuring more or less 500 square meters, more clients can now be served conveniently by POEA, way different from the very small room they occupied before. Looking back, Mr. Marlon M. Macalla, OIC of POEA RO8, expressed his gratitude to the entire DOLE-RCC for the support and all the help.

“In behalf of POEA, I’d like to thank the DOLE-RCC Family particularly DOLE and RTWPB for letting us have a home for many years. Finally, this time we can say we now have our own office”, said Macalla.

In his closing remarks, DOLE RO8 OIC-Assistant Regional Director, Atty. Cecilio I. Baleña, expressed his gladness that finally POEA found its new office. He even recalled the times when POEA was just occupying one small room in RTWPB’s building.

“We saw how POEA endured the inconvenience of catering to clients in a congested office. And so now we are happy that finally the POEA management provided the necessary funds to pay for the rental which will pave the way to delivering better services to our clients here in Eastern Visayas”, Atty. Baleña said.

Also in attendance during the said inauguration were officers and members of the Eastern Visayas Association of Recruitment Agencies (EVARA).

Before POEA shared office building with RTWPB in 2017, POEA held office inside the DOLE RO8 building for almost a decade. End/Norma Rae S. Costimiano
