369 Sogod folks receive DOLE starter kits

Taclaban City – Some three-hundred sixty-nine (369) beneficiaries receive their kabuhayan starter kits from the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VIII last February 12, 2020 in Sogod, Southern Leyte.

A total of P4,922,115.00 charged under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) funds was downloaded to the local government unit of Sogod for the implementation of the diversified project entitled “Skills-Based Livelihood Projects for Skilled and Semi-Skilled Workers in the Municipality of Sogod”. 

The diversified project includes individual business plans such as carenderia, beauty care, coconut wine selling, native kakanin, carpentry, fresh fruits vending, fish ball and kikiam vending, etc.

Present to grace the turn-over ceremony were LGU-Sogod Mayor, Hon. Imelda Tan, Atty. Jose Ramil Golo, Vice-Mayor, Ms. Marites Z. Viñas, Head of DOLE Southern Leyte Field Office representing Regional Director Yahya A. Centi and Ms. Dahlia A. Gabriana, Labor and Employment Officer III.

Chief Viñas encouraged the beneficiaries to take care of their starter goods and do better in their chosen business to augment their family income. 

“We always say this during turn-overs, and I will say it again today. Please take good care of whatever DOLE has given you. It is our joy to see that we are able to help people through the various programs of the department. I hope you will also take pride in it and aspire to become successful in your respective businesses”, Viñas said.

She likewise challenged them to aspire to become a nominee to the Search for the Best DOLE-Assisted Livelihood Project in the coming years.
