DOLE RO VIII kicks off 2020 with a PESO training

City of Tacloban – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VIII started the year 2020 with an orientation on Labor Market Information Analysis and Report Writing held last 8-9 January 2020 at Hotel Costa Brava, Tacloban City.

The two-day training was conducted to capacitate second batch of around fifty (50) Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Managers of Eastern Visayas in coming up with more effective labor market information in their respective cities and municipalities.

Ms. Cristina T. Longjas, Chief of Technical Support Services Division, welcomed the participants and gave the overview of the activity. She encouraged all of them to work hard for the accomplishments of targets on employment facilitation programs.

Mr. Ryan Roberto E. Delos Reyes, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of DOLE-National Capital Region (NCR) and former personnel of the Bureau of Local Employment, was the resource person for the entire training. On the first day, he tackled important topics such as Labor Statistics Demographic Profile and Project Jobsfit while topics on Employment Coaching and Child Pornography as Worst Form of Child Labor were discussed on the second day.

Mr. Delos Reyes gave the participants useful tips in preparing their LMI reports. He said, “Please remember that your LMI reports will be used by ordinary people and so you have to make sure they will understand whatever it is you have written. Lagyan niyo ng kwento yung kwenta niyo, at bigyan niyo ng kwenta yung inyong kwento.”

Director Yahya A. Centi in his message, challenged all the PESO Managers to be prepared for the Fourth Industrial Revolution which is now the trend in labor market.

“The fourth industrial revolution boils down to one thing – competitiveness. You don’t have a choice but to be ready”, said Director Centi.

The good director likewise urged the PESO Managers to do their best in helping their constituents through LMI.

“As PESO Managers, you can influence your decision-makers, your local chief executives. You can have greater impact on our labor market, that’s why we are here doing our part to teach you everything you need to know”, Director Centi added.

Same training was conducted in December 2019 for the first batch of PESO Managers. End/Norma Rae S. Costimiano
