DOLE’s TUPAD #BKBK brought food on beneficiaries’ table
Tacloban City – Workers in the informal sector affected by the COVID-19 pandemic express their thanks to the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office VIII for the assistance received through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers #Barangay Ko Bahay Disinfection/Sanitation Project (TUPAD #BKBK).
Among the grateful beneficiaries of the program is Mr. Rey Dampios, a displaced habal-habal driver from Brgy. Macario, Merida, Leyte. 
Since the declaration of community quarantine, Rey temporarily stopped working, afraid of contracting with the virus and eventually affect his family especially his baby. He then sought from their barangay any help he could avail of in order to sustain his family during the crisis.
Through DOLE’s TUPAD #BKBK program, Rey was able to work for ten days disinfecting and sanitizing their home premises and received a total of Php 3,250.00 as his wage.
He extended his sincere gratitude to DOLE-RO VIII thru its Western Leyte Field Office (WLFO) for the financial relief during this health crisis.
“I am really thankful for this TUPAD #BKBK program because it really helped me provide for the needs of my family. I was able to buy food, milk and diaper for my child”, said Dampyos. 
Mara Estrera, a displaced informal worker from Western Leyte likewise expressed her heartfelt thanks to DOLE’s TUPAD #BKBK. 
“Thank you very much to DOLE for their TUPAD program. It is really a big help especially for us who have no other source of income during the ECQ”, said Estrera.
Estrera likewise shared how the financial aid helped her and her family.
“Through DOLE, I was able to buy rice and other basic needs of my family. For that I am truly grateful to DOLE. May the good Lord bless you”, ended Estrera.
As of 06 May 2020, some 15,750 informal sector workers of Eastern Visayas have benefited from the TUPAD #BKBK program of the department. A total of Php 51,187,500.00 financial aid had been disbursed under the said amelioration program. End/Norma Rae S. Costimiano
