Victims of typhoon Ursula get livelihood assistance from DOLE-RO8

Tacloban City –  The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 through its Biliran Field Office has awarded livelihood assistance in the form of marine engine units to sixty-five beneficiaries from the local government unit of Kawayan, Biliran amounting to Php 1,225,000.00 on 25 August 2020.

Beneficiaries of engine units pose together with DOLE and LGU-Kawayan representatives.

The beneficiaries were all fishermen and victims of the typhoon Ursula that greatly devastated the coastal muncipality of Kawayan last December 2019.  During the simple turnover ceremony, joy filled the venue as the beneficiaries received their own engine unit which will really help them a lot in in bringing back their livelihood to life.

Present to grace the awarding were Engr. Emmanuel Y. de la Cruz, OIC-Head of the DOLE-BFO and Hon. Rodolfo Espina Sr., Mayor of LGU-Kawayan. In his message, Mayor Espina thanked DOLE for all the help and appreciated the benefits of the livelihood program.

“I thank our DOLE here in the region particularly here in Biliran for being our partner in helping our constituents. This livelihood program is really helpful in restoring what they lost during the typhoon Ursula”, said Mayor Espina.

Engr. De la Cruz, who was representing Director Yahya A. Centi, congratulated all the beneficiaries for their new equipments. He likewise thanked Mayor Espina for being an active partner in making the livelihood project a reality.

“In behalf of DOLE, I would like to congratulate all our beneficiaries for having your new equipment. I hope you will all make good use of it for the welfare of your families. Also, my sincere thanks to Mayor Espina for being so accommodating and for all the efforts in facilitating the realization of this livelihood project, said Engr. dela Cruz.
