148 Navalenous to benefit from P2.8-M DOLE livelihood aid

Tacloban City –  Some one hundred forty-eight (148) Navale?os will be benefitting from the livelihood aid released by the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 to the local government unit of Naval, Biliran last September 8, 2020 amounting to Php  2,846,380.00.

Engr. Emmanuel De la Cruz awards the livelihood check to Mayor Gerard Roger Espina.

Naval Mayor Gerard Roger Espina personally received the livelihood funds from Engr. Emmanuel Y. De la Cruz, OIC-Chief of the DOLE-Biliran Field Office, assisted by Senior Labor and Employment Officer Imelda Codilan The said grants will be utilized for the implementation of the approved project proposal entilted “Diversified Livelihood for Navale?os (Fishing, Dressmakig, Vulcanizing/Car Wash, Hilot Wellness Massage).

Mayor Espina expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the labor department in Region 8 for being true to its given mandate in ensuring the welfare of Filipino workers.

“We are always thankful to DOLE here in the region for all the assistance we have received for the benefit of the people of Naval. We really appreciate the fact that we are not left behind in this time of pandemic, that we have partners like DOLE who is true to its mandate”, said Mayor Espina.

Bearing the new mantra of DOLE to provide fresh hopes to the lives of the Filipino workers especially this time of COVID-19 pandemic, Engr. De la Cruz, in behalf of Regional Director Yahya A. Centi, committed to bring more opportunities to the people of Biliran through the programs and services of the department.

“In behalf of the DOLE and my Regional Director, I would like to assure our partners here in Biliran that we will never get tired of extending assisance to our constituents, for that is what we are here for as public servants. Thank you also to to LGU-Naval for being so active and facilitative”, said Engr. De la Cruz.

Also awarded to LGU-Naval during the simple turnover were computer sets and personal protective materials such as face masks and rubbing alcohol courtesy of the Public Employment Service (PES) funds. End/Norma Rae S. Costimiano
