DOLE pays 131.5M in financial aid to 26,292 workers in Region 8 under CAMP2

TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment has paid a total of P131,500,000.00 to 26,292 private sector workers in Eastern Visayas under the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program 2 (CAMP2).

CAMP2 is a safety net program that provides one-time 5k financial support to affected workers in the formal sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It covers displaced workers regardless of status of employment but gives preference to micro, small and medium establishments that applied for CAMP1 but did not receive any financial assistance under BAYANIHAN 1, and those that apply for the first time under BAYANIHAN2.

Over 2400 small and medium enterprises have been approved for CAMP2 which will benefit their workers who were affected by the implementation of temporary closure, flexible work arrangements or alternative work schemes, due to COVID-19 pandemic.

DOLE Region 8 OIC-Regional Director Amable Ildefonso C. Roa said that the CAMP2 implementation under the BAYANIHAN2 is in recognition of the government’s pursuit of a whole-of-nation approach in the implementation of recovery and rehabilitation measures to cushion the impact of the pandemic on the economy and society.

“We hope that this little help from the government will ease the burden of our formal sectors workers in coping with the effects of this pandemic”, Director Roa added.

The funds released for CAMP2 is a huge increase from CAMP1 which only accommodated 12,901 workers from 915 applicant-establishments or a total of 64.5 million fund assistance.
