DOLE conducts payout of P1.2M to TUPAD workers in Baybay, Leyte

Tacloban City – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 through its West Leyte Field Office conducted a payout of wages amounting to P1,223,625.00 to some 251 beneficiaries of TUPAD program on April 7, 2021 at the Baybay Women’s Center, Brgy. Cogon, Baybay City.

Each beneficiary received P4.875.00 as payment to the services they have rendered during the 15-day implementation of the project in the city. 

Present to personally witness the payout were Congressman Carl Nicolas C. Cari of the 5th District of Leyte, Mayor Jose Carlos L. Cari of Baybay City, DOLE-RO8 Regional Director, Henry John S. Jalbuena and DOLE-WLFO Head, Fe A. Estrella. 

Director Jalbuena in his message expressed his gratitude to the local officials for being active partners in implementing the TUPAD program. 

“We at DOLE need the help of our LGUs and PESOs so we can effectively deliver the services that our clients need. We are thankful to our active leaders here in Baybay, Mayor Cari and of course to our Congressman of the 5th District, the very young and dynamic Cong. Carl Cari.”, said Jalbuena.

In addressing the beneficiaries, Director Jalbuena underscored the importance of hardwork in achieving success.

“May this assistance from the government inspire you to do better and become even more hardworking so that you will be successful in life”, Jalbuena said. 

DOLE, through the TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program, provides assistance to the informal sector workers affected by the ongoing pandemic.
