TUPAD program benefits 134 workers in Villareal, Samar

Villareal, Samar – A total of P 435,500.00 TUPAD wages have been successfully paid to some 134 displaced/disadvantaged workers in Villareal, Samar last 03 May 2021 at the Covered Court, this municipality.

Each beneficiary received P3,250.00 for completing the ten-day implementation of TUPAD.

Still in line with the 119th Labor Day Celebration, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 through its Samar Field Office headed by Chief Fe Norma D. Valuis, led the conduct of the said activity together with the local government unit of VIllareal and An Waray Partylist.

In attendance during the payout were Mayor Marilou Latorre, Vice-Mayor Danilo Sacendoncillo and Mayor Allan Contado of Balangkayan, Eastern Samar representing Congressman Florencio “Bem” Noel.

In her message, Valuis briefly discussed the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program as a safety net program that provides temporary wage employment to the workers in the informal sector particularly the unpaid family workers and self-employed workers with elementary occupations who were displaced or whose earnings were affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“Our most sincere appreciation to Cong. Florencio “Bem” Noel for the strong support and unwavering commitment in continuously implementing DOLE programs and services especially this emergency employment. This is indeed a big help to our workers as people are still struggling to land jobs,” said Valuis.

Chief LEO Valuis likewise congratulated the TUPAD beneficiaries and reminded them to spend their hard-earned money wisely.

Meanwhile, Mayor Latorre and Mayor Contado extended their gratitude to Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III, Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena and Provincial Head Fe Norma D. Valuis and the entire SFO team for all the support and assistance extended which led to the smooth implementation of the program.
