DOLE awards 600K livelihood projects to 45 IS workers in Southern Leyte

Maasin City – The Department of Labor and Employment Region 8 through its Southern Leyte Field Office (SLFO) successfully awarded livelihood projects worth P668,430.00 to some forty-five (45) informal sector workers of Brgy. Mac, Sogod, Southern Leyte during the ceremonial turnover held last June 11, 2021.

Present to grace the simple turnover event were Hon. Rufo C. Olo, Livelihood Committee Chairperson of Sogod who also represented Mayor Imelda Uy-Tan, Hon. Raul F. Galola, Chairperson of Brgy. Mac, Ms. Velma Duguil, PESO Manager and Marites Z. Viñas, Chief of DOLE-SLFO.

The following were the livelihood projects awarded: vulcanizing services, homemade delicacies, mini carinderia, fish vending, dried fish vending and barbecue stand.

Hon. Olo congratulated the beneficiaries and said that the livelihood assistance is aimed at providing additional income and alternative employment for their families considering that we are still in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. 

He likewise expressed his profound thanks and gratitude to DOLE, Director Henry John S. Jalbuena and Chief Marites Viñas for all the support and livelihood assistance extended to Brgy. Mac, Sogod, Southern Leyte.

“Let me thank from the bottom of my heart DOLE, RD Jalbuena and Chief Viñas for the livelihood assistance you have given to my community. Because of your support, our livelihood projects will now be realized.  We assure you that we will treat these as God’s blessings for our families and livelihood”, said Hon. Galola. 

Meanwhile, Chief Viñas encouraged the beneficiaries to be good stewards of the government assistance.
