DOLE to recognize PESOs through Secretary’s Bayanihan Service Award

Tacloban City – The Department of Labor and Employment is set to give recognition to Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) who exemplify on innovation, resilience and humanitarian services amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Secretary’s Bayanihan Service Award, open to all PESOs nationwide, acknowledges the extraordinary performance of PESOs who continue to strive for excellence in delivering services to the people despite the limitations brought by the health crisis.

After careful deliberation of entries, DOLE Regional Office No. 8 nominated for the said award the PESOs of Ormoc City, Barugo, Leyte and Merida, Leyte. 

Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena said that the PESOs deserve to be honoured as frontrunners in providing employment facilitation services despite the difficult circumstances due to the pandemic.

“I salute our PESOs for being DOLE’s reliable arm in responding to our clients especially at such a time as this when there are many limitations because of COVID-19,” said Jalbuena.

Jalbuena added that aside from acknowledging their remarkable services, the award is aimed at providing more motivation to PESOs. 

“With this award, we hope to fuel the passion and motivation of our PESOs to continue their exemplary services”, Jalbuena added.

National winners will receive a cash prize of PhP 100,000.00 while a consolation prize of PhP 20,000.00 will be given to the rest of the nominees. 

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) is a non-fee charging multi-dimensional employment service facility or entity established in all Local Government Units (LGUs) in coordination with DOLE pursuant to R.A.
