More than 2k workers in Samar benefit from 6.8M TUPAD aid

Catbalogan City – Some 2,122 informal workers from the towns of Jiabong and Paranas in Samar have recently benefitted from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of DOLE.

A total of Php 6,896,500.00 TUPAD wages were paid to the beneficiaries during the payout last September 20, 2021. Each beneficiary received P3,250.00 each after completing the ten-day implementation of the program.

Of the total beneficiaries, 1,367 were from Paranas while the other 755 were residents of Jiabong.

Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena, assisted by Chief Fe Norma D. Valuis, successfully led the payout together with Congresswoman Sharee Ann Tan, Governor Reynolds Michael Tan and Mr. Eduardo delos Santos from the Ang Probinsyano Partylist.

Director Jalbuena reminded the beneficiaries to use their hard-earned money for their basic needs rather than spending for their vices.

“My only request is that you spend your money for your basic needs. Please never use the money you earn from TUPAD to engage in ‘TUPADA’ or illegal cockfighting”, said Jalbuena.

The beneficiaries happily received their wages and were grateful for the untiring efforts of their local government officials in bringing developments, improvements and glimpse of hope amidst the pandemic.

They were likewise provided with TUPAD identification cards (IDs), Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) such as long-sleeved TUPAD shirt, buri hats, face masks and antibacterial soaps plus an enrollment to micro-insurance particularly the Group Personal Accident Insurance (GPAI) of the GSIS during the pre-implementation phase.

Also present during the payout were Jiabong PESO Manager Honorato Labrague III, Paranas PESO Manager Jesus Royandoyan and LEO II/Livelihood Focal Maria Chulla B. Corpuz End/NRSC with report from Kirstine Ranz Orara-DOLE SFO
