Over P7-M livelihood, employment assistance awarded to Samar town

Catbalogan City – The DOLE Regional Office No. 8 through its Samar Field Office successfully awarded more than 7 million worth of livelihood and emergency employment assistance to the municipality of Tarangnan in Samar last September 16, 2021 at its Municipal Covered Court.

Chief LEO/Provincial Head Fe Norma D. Valuis led the awarding of a livelihood check amounting to 6.1 million pesos to Tarnagnan Mayor Arnel R. Tan.

The livelihood grant will benefit fifteen (15) individual beneficiaries and fifteen (15) DOLE registered Workers Associations from different barangays with varied group projects such as Vegetable Production, Fish Production, Provision of Mini-Grocery/Sari-sari Store, Broiler Chicken Production, Native Chicken Raising and Cattle Fattening. 

Also present during the awarding ceremony were Engr. Ma. Bethsabee F. Delgado, Chief of Staff of Congressman Edgar Mary S. Sarmiento together with her staff Ms. Maria Fe Lebario, PESO Manager and Municipal Treasurer Jemuel Villar.

Aside from the awarding of livelihood check, Ms. Valuis likewise graced and led the payout of TUPAD wages to some five hunded (500) displaced/disadvantaged workers amounting to P1.6 million pesos. The beneficiaries were all happy to receive P3,250 each as payment for a 10-day emergency employment. 

“We would like to express our most sincere appreciation to Cong. Edgar Mary S. Sarmiento for overwhelming support and unwavering commitment to the programs and services of DOLE especially that people are still struggling due to the pandemic” Valuis said.

She likewise congratulated all the TUPAD beneficiaries and reminded them to spend their hard-earned money wisely.

“To our dear beneficiaries, our usual message every payout is for you to spend your hard-earned money wisely. Please use it for the basic needs of your families”, Valuis added.

On the part of the Local Government Unit of Tarangnan, Mayor Tan expressed his gratitude to DOLE Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena, Provincial Head Valuis and the entire SFO team for all the continued support and assistance extended to LGU-Tarangnan.
