DOLE-RO8 awards BikeCINATION projects on anniversary celebration

Tacloban City – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 has recently awarded bikecination projects to some 11 beneficiaries of its North Leyte Field Office during its celebration of the 88th Anniversary of the department last December 8, 2021 at the Robinsons Place, Marasbaras, this city. 

OIC-Assistant Regional Director Atty. Cecilio I. Baleña, together with Tacloban City Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez, Department of Trade and Industry-8 Director Celerina T. Bato and National Maritime  Polytechnic Executive Director Joel B. Maglunsod led the awarding of the bicycle units complete with accessories for delivery/vending business such as insulator bags, protective helmet, vest, cellphone and load wallet.

Beneficiaries were indeed happy to receive the livelihood aid which they refer as early Christmas gifts from the government.

“I really feel blessed that I am one of the beneficiaries of this project. Thank you DOLE for this early Christmas gift, we can now start with our delivery business!” said one beneficiary from Tacloban City.

ARD Baleña shared that the BikeCINATION Project aims to incentivize workers who have completed two doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

“This BikeCINATION project is DOLE’s way of incentivizing our workers who are already fully vaccinated and at the same time help cushion the effect of the pandemic to our informal sector workers”, said Baleña.

Also present during the awarding was Engr. Emmanuel Y. De la Cruz, Head of DOLE-NLFO.

BikCINATION Project is a special project under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program which provides bicycles and other necessary tools for vending/delivery business amounting to not more than P25,000.00. Eligible beneficiaries are workers in the informal sector, working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers under A4 category. End/NRSC
