DOLE awards P7.5-M livelihood, emergency employment assistance

Tacloban City – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 through its Northern Samar Field Office headed by Mr. Virgilio A. Doroja, Jr. has awarded on January 6, 2022 livelihood and emergency employment assistance amounting to P7,592,500 for the municipalities of Catarman and Pambujan .

Some 226 underemployed and displaced workers from Catarman will soon benefit from the P6,780,000 worth of livelihood grants and will be provided diversified livelihood businesses.

Meanwhile, 250 beneficiaries will be engaged in a short-term emergency employment in Pambujan through a grant under DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) program amounting to P812,500.00. Each beneficiary will be engaged in a 10-day work and shall receive P3,250 each after completion.

Mr. Doroja underscored the relentless efforts of the agency to assist the workers in Northern Samar through its various programs particularly livelihood and emergency employment.

“The provision of livelihood and emergency employment to our workers in Northern Samar manifests the continued commitment of DOLE to serve and assist its clients”, said Doroja. 

Present to receive the funding checks for LGU-Catarman were Mr. SB Member Fernando Carpio and PESO Manager Arielyn Fernandez while PESO Manager Mar T. Balanquit and Asst. Municipal Treasurer Leah M. Lim received the assistance for the workers of Pambujan. End/NRSC with a report from DOLE-NSFO
