P9.5 million TUPAD aid pours in Northern Samar

Tacloban City – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No.8 through its Northern Samar Field Office (NSFO) has successfully paid a total of P9,551,750.00 wages to some 2,263 beneficiaries of its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program from the six municipalities of the province of Northern Samar.

Through a series of payout activities conducted by NSFO led by Mr. Virgilio A. Doroja, Jr. this January, P2,447,250 were paid to 502 workers in Catarman, P812,500 for 250 beneficiaries in Pambujan and P3,610,750 for the 961 beneficiaries in Victoria.

Also included in the payouts conducted were Laoang, Palapag and Silvino Lubos.  P487,500 was paid to 100 workers of Laoang, P243,750 for 50 beneficiaries in Palapag and P1,950,000 for the 400 beneficiaries in Silvino Lubos.

Mr. Doroja informed that the TUPAD program continues to extend assistance to Northern Samar and has recently reached Silivino Lubos, one of the far-flung municipalities of the province.

“Serbisyong TUPAD is indeed very helpful to our displaced and disadvantaged workers here in Northern Samar. We are thankful to the support of our partners in the local government units which enables DOLE to implement this program and reach more needy workers”, said Doroja.

Present during the payouts were Congressman Paul R. Daza, Pambujan Mayor Felipe Sosing, Jr. and San Jose Mayor Clarence Dato who represented the Office of the Governor. End/NRSC with a report from NSFO
