DOLE-8 orients program coordinators for more improved services

Tacloban City – To achieve more improved program implementation and service delivery this 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 conducted an orientation on the department’s programs and services for its TUPAD coordinators and Livelihood Development Specialists (LDS) from the different field offices.

Through the Technical Support Services Division (TSSD) headed by Mr. Norman L. Uyvico, the orientation was conducted in two batches – first for the Leyte and Biliran areas last February 17-18, 2022 at Sabin Resort Hotel in Ormoc City, while the second was held for the Samar, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar areas on March 7-8, 2022 at Haiyan Resort in Tanauan, Leyte.

Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena said that the activity was intended to provide the TUPAD coordinators and LDS the necessary knowledge on the department’s programs and services for them to be effective in their respective jobs.

“Our ultimate goal is to deliver improved, quality services to our clients, and one way to do that is to have our program coordinators equipped with the needed knowledge, skills and understanding”, said Jalbuena.

Director Jalbuena himself tackled the overview of the programs and services of DOLE including its brief history as an organization and key officials. The more detailed discussion on the various programs of DOLE for the three organizational outcomes were given by Wayne Luisito Velasco, Karmela De la Sierra, Engr. Niño Joseph Pey and Eden Ligaya Y. Golong. Ms. Jean Say, HR-Designate presented the Human Resource Policies and Work Ethics to inform the participants of the Do’s and Don’ts in an office setting.

Highlights of the two-day orientation were the presentation of the TUPAD Toolkit and TUPAD Information System (Version 2) delivered by Gemma De la Cruz and Peter Philip Pates, respectively, followed with an open forum wherein participants raised relevant issues and concerns relative TUPAD.

For the TUPAD coordinators, especially the new entrants, to have experience of the TUPAD System and to iron out any system issues encountered prior the actual deployment, Director Jalbuena instructed all filed offices in coordination with the Technical Support Services Division (TSSD) to conduct first a dry-run a week after the orientation for the Samar areas.
