DOLE holds learning sessions for employers in Eastern Visayas

Tacloban City – The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 has successfully completed the conduct of learning sessions for the employers in Eastern Visayas through its different field offices.

Dubbed as “Employer’s Forum”, the activity aims to provide the establishment owners or management representatives an avenue to enhance their knowledge on the various programs and services of the department. A total of almost 200 participants attended the said learning sessions.

The first forum was conducted by DOLE-West Leyte in Ormoc City last February 9 followed by DOLE-Biliran in Naval on February 15 and DOLE-Samar in Catbalogan City on February 16.

Meanwhile, three field offices namely the North Leyte, Eastern Samar and Northern Samar simultaneously held their Employers’ Forum last February 17.

Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena, in one of the management committee meetings of the office, underscored the importance of educating the stakeholders of DOLE in order to effectively and efficiently achieve given targets for the year 2022.

“We need to continuously educate and update our stakeholders for us to be able to achieve our targets effectively and efficiently”, said Jalbuena.

Jalbuena likewise said that the forum serves as a strategic means of the office to increase compliance of establishments with existing labor laws and standards.

Among the topics tackled in all of the learning sessions conducted were the following: General Labor Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Law and Programs of the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB). Relevant programs of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) such as Productivity-Based Incentivizing Scheme (PBIS) and Basic Productivity Concepts were also discussed. End/NRSC
