Graduating students in Leyte receive career guidance and labor education

Tacloban City – The Department of Labor and Employment in West Leyte recently provided labor education and career guidance orientation to some 197 graduating students from Leyte, Leyte and Baybay City.

In coordination with the LGU of Leyte through its PESO Manager Cristina V. Polinio, Ms. Darwinda C. Labastida, Labor and Employment Officer III, delivered the topic on Career Coaching to 132 graduating students of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU)-Ormoc and Palompon Institute of Technology. Some students of Biliran Province State University residing in Leyte, Leyte were also able to attend the said event on April 5 at the Leyte Municipal Covered Court. 

To prepare the students for the real world of work, Ms. Labastida likewise tackled the topic on General Labor Standards.

Meanwhile, 65 graduating senior high school students of Mapgap Integrated School attended the Career Advocacy and Labor Education held at the Gymnasium of Brgy. Mapgap, Baybay City on April 6, 2022.

Present during the activity were Mr. Sergio T. Peña, School Principal, and all the teachers of Mapgap IS. 

Mr. Peña thanked the DOLE for assisting them in providing their students the necessary knowledge for them to be equipped before they enter the college level next school year.

Career Guidance is one of the flagship programs being implemented by the Department as employment facilitation intermediation services for the youth to provide them relevant information that could guide them in making informed career choices.
