Attended by 20 new and returning partner employers composed of establishment owners, managers and HR representatives, the activity provided an overview of the JobStart program particularly on the important roles of the employers as well as the different implementation phases namely, life skills training, technical training and internship phases.

Atty. Cecilio I. Baleña, OIC-Assistant Regional Director graced the activity and gave an inspirational message.

“We are truly thankful that we have you to support us in making this program a success, for the ultimate benefit of our youth here in Tacloban”, said Atty. Baleña.

The activity was capped with an open forum wherein the DOLE and PESO Tacloban underscored that a wider coverage of industries is being targeted for this year’s implementation, to include BPO and medical companies interested to become a partner employer.

Another highlight of the one-day activity was the sharing of testimonials by previous partner employers which paved the way to encourage new employers to become a Jobstart partner for this year.

Ms. Samantha Chan, Managing Director of Jollibee Tacloban testified of her appreciation of the program by citing out the benefits and experiences they acquired from the JobStart partnership. Mr. Noel G. Yu, Manager of McDonald’s Tacloban, on the other hand, lauded DOLE and PESO Tacloban’s proactive guidance and assistance throughout their four-year partnership with JobStart albeit challenges were encountered too.

Meanwhile, DOLE-NLFO Head Engr. Emmanuel Y. de la Cruz thanked all the employers who responded to the invitation and sincerely urged them to not hesitate in becoming a JobStart partner.

“We really hope that you will partner with us in this endeavor to effectively facilitate employment for our youth by honing their skills and providing the needed interventions”, said Engr. De la Cruz.

The said forum was a success, with the invited employers verbalizing an interest to a commitment and partnership with the JSP Program. Requests of pledges and expression of interest were then solicited from them. End/Norma Rae S. Costimiano with a report from Nadia June G. Noel
