DOLE orients 150 new interns in Southern Leyte

Tacloban City – The Department of Labor and Employment in Southern Leyte conducted series of orientations to at least 150 new interns under its Government Internship Program (GIP) for this year.

DOLE-Southern Leyte Field Office Head, Ms. Eden Ligaya Y. Golong informed that their newly hired interns already started reported to their assigned posts last April 1, 2022 and will be working for a period of six months.

“This is a province-wide implementation and so we distributed our interns to all the municipalities of Southern Leyte”, said Golong.

Golong likewise said that there will still be a second batch of interns for Southern Leyte.

Under the GIP, each intern will be receiving a daily stipend of P325.00 and an accident insurance prior to work engagement.

In all orientations conducted, Mr. Norman Victor M. Ordiz, PESO Manager of the Province of Southern Leyte reminded all the interns to perform with utmost responsibility whatever task is being given to them.

“This program (GIP) intends to give you the chance to obtain work experience in a public office, that’s why I urge you to do your best and showcase your talents and skills”, said Ordiz.

The GIP is a component of the government’s Kabataan 2000 project under Executive Order No. 139 Series of 1993, which aimed to provide opportunities for young workers to serve the general public through the projects and services of government agencies and offices at both local and national level.
