DOLE-8 awards FreeBis projects on Independence Day

Tacloban City – In its bid to assist low-income workers, the DOLE Regional Office No. 8 awarded free bicycles to sixty-one (61) self-employed and underemployed workers of Tacloban on June 12, 2022 at the Robinsons North Tacloban.

During the awarding graced by Tingog Partylist Representative Philip Jude A. Acidre, each beneficiary received a bicycle complete with accessories namely, insulated bag, reflectorized vest, raincoat and helmet. They also received a brand new cellphone with load to aid them in their business on-wheels.

The said livelihood project facilitated by the DOLE-North Leyte Field Office in partnership with the Tingog Partylist, amounted to a total of P1,356,396.00.

Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena in his message said that he hopes to see the beneficiaries’ businesses flourish through the assistance provided by DOLE.

“This FreeBis project is intended to augment your income, and I hope you will all drive your business to success”, said Jalbuena.

FreeBis is a special project under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) which aims to help ease unemployment by providing livelihood opportunities to workers displaced by the COVID pandemic. End/Norma Rae S. Costimiano
