DOLE assists informal sector workers in Tacloban with livelihood

Tacloban City – Some 30 informal sector workers from different barangays of this city have received livelihood assistance amounting to P635,700.00 from the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 on June 6, 2022.

Through the DOLE North Leyte Field Office (NLFO), each beneficiary received ten (10) sacks of rice, one weighing scale and plastic bags for their rice retailing projects approved under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

One of the beneficiaries, Ms. Nilda Calamaya, 66, expressed her gratitude to DOLE-RO8 for the assistance received.

“Maraming salamat po sa DOLE sa malaking tulong na ito. Makakaasa po kayo na pag-bubutihan naming para lumago ito”, Calamaya said.

Present to grace the simple turnover ceremony were OIC-Asst. Regional Director Atty. Cecilio I. Baleña and NLFO Chief Engr. Emmanuel Y. de la Cruz.

Atty. Baleña congratulated all the beneficiaries and said that it is DOLE’s pleasure to be of service to the workers of Region 8.

“We are happy to serve you and we hope these projects will really help all of you in having a sustainable source of income”, said Baleña.

Engr. De la Cruz informed that the said livelihood project awarding was just the 1st batch and that another set of beneficiaries from the city will also be receiving the same.
