SPES baby in Northern Samar graduates Cum Laude

Tacloban City – The Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) of the Department of Labor and Employment is again seeing positive impact through the lives of youth beneficiaries sharing how the program helped them.

One of them is Maria Ramila C. Adora, a SPES baby who recently graduated Cum Laude at the University of Eastern Philippines in Catarman, Northern Samar with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

Adora’s journey as a SPES baby started in 2018 when she had the opportunity to avail of the SPES program implemented by DOLE-Northern Samar Field Office (NSFO) and the municipality of Laoang. She was assigned at the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) where she got to assist regular employees and experienced doing clerical tasks.

Receiving her diploma during their graduation rites last June 13, 2022, Adora feels grateful for being able to finish her studies with flying colors.

“I am really grateful for all the help I received along the way, which enabled me to finish my studies. The assistance from DOLE through SPES was really a big help for me and my family”, said Adora.

Reminiscing the times when she renders her service as a SPES baby, Adora says she is actually proud that she was able to help her parents in financing her studies.

Now that she’s graduated, Adora’s determination to become a licensed civil engineer is fueled all the more.

“I’d like to become an inspiration to other students who are aspiring for something. We just have to be active and maximize the programs being offered by our government”, Adora added.

Adora will be focusing in her review before she can take and hopefully ace the board exam. END/Norma Rae S. Costimiano with report from NSFO
